Yesterday and today were Boston days for us.  That just means that Eleanor had appointments in Boston.  Yesterday we picked up her new body jacket and today we saw the neurologist.

Body jacket pickup went very well although the ride in was harrowing.  There were at least 4 accidents from the rain and ice precipitation. But I digress.  Her new jacket fits really well!!!  She hasn't gotten one red mark from it and she seems to sit up much better.  The xrays show that with the jacket on her curve is supported at about 40 degrees which is wonderful.  The Orthopedist thinks we have a good shot at postponing spinal surgery until her preteen years.  Phew.  At least we have sometime to do some research and mental prep.  Here is a picture of Eleanor just chilling out in her new jacket for the first time.

It's pretty exciting stuff.  ;)

Oh and here is Edith being so patient waiting while the Dr.s came in and out.  :D  She really was very good!!!!

She brought her pony's with her too and showed everyone.
This is what's painted on the wall in that particular exam room.  It's one of my favorite ones.  :D
Then today Eleanor saw her mitochondrial neurologist.  We have been putting off the appointment so it had actual been a whole year and a half since we had seen her.  I don't feel like Eleanor has changed much especially neurologically so the reason I made the appointment was because of the morning time.  You see every morning when it's time to get up Eleanor is fine until you start to move her and then she starts to fuss but the worst part is brushing her hair.  She doesn't just fuss she starts to cry.  With real rolling tears.  It's soooo hard to watch her cry like that.  It's like she's in pain and I'm gentle with her hair.  I don't just rip right through it.  So I had been wondering if she was having headaches.  When I brought it up to the neurologist she said that it's difficult to tell, with kids in Eleanor's demographic, whether it's headaches or not and since Eleanor has a history of elevated lactic acid in her spinal fluid, which may be a factor in headaches she prescribed a mild drug that is frequently used for prevention of migraines in small children.  We will try it for a few weeks to see if things improve.  I feel like it was a good appointment and worth the hour and a half drive into the city.  Which, let me tell you, is NOT always the case!

Edith was very good during todays appointment as well although that was not the case this afternoon at preschool pickup.  She did not want to listen to me or hold my hand in the parking lot, which is a solid rule with us, and was just giving me attitude.  I brought her to the pharmacy with me to pick up the new script for Eleanor.  She loves the pharmacy because there are free lollipops there. There's also little GUND and Ty toys that she like to look at.  She's usually so good!  When it's time to leave she puts all the Beanie Baby's back with their 'families' and we go home.  Not today.  There was a complete and utter meltdown/sob fest about having to leave the kitty with his family.  "But we can be his family" is what she was sobbing to me oh and "his name is Chilly".  I tried my hardest to say no but she got to me.  We took Chilly home.  I felt defeated!!  I gave in, eesh!  She so knows how to play me.  It's going to be a long teenage adventure for the two of us!!  Oh man!  The curse my mother put on me "I hope you have a kid just like you" might ruin me.  LOL

Edith also dressed herself today in clothes that she picked out independently of any advice.

That's right.  A snowman and candy cane turtleneck with a pink heart waffle shirt over it, brown pants with dachshunds wearing baby blue sweaters and to finish the outfit striped socks.  These pictures don't even come close to showing how silly she actually looked.   I'm so proud of her independence and self confidence.  :D
